Rallis India posts Net Profit of Rs. 4 Crores; Revenues of Rs. 187 Crores in Q1

Mumbai, July 15th, 2008:

Rallis India Limited, a TATA Enterprise and a leading agrochemical player in India, today announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30th June 2008.

During first quarter of the ongoing financial year, the Company has posted a Net Profit of Rs. 4.23 Crores, against Rs. 1.42 Crores posted during the same period in the previous year.

Revenues during the first quarter grew to Rs. 186.98 Crores against Rs. 128.58 Crores during last year in the similar period.

Performance of South West Monsoon is critical for the agrochemical industry. Though initially the S W Monsoon arrived early in some areas, large pockets of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have received deficient precipitation so far. Deficient to scanty rainfall in these areas has adversely impacted sowing of cotton crop. A normal rainfall in these areas is also important for the reservoir levels that affect rice planting especially in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states. Good rainfall during the month of July and August will be decisive for normal crop acreages and performance of agri-input industry.

Commenting on the Company’s performance during the first quarter of the ongoing financial year, Mr. V Shankar, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Rallis India said, “I am happy to say that Rallis’ performance during the first quarter has been as expected. The usage of agrochemical products is largely during the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the year and a satisfactory distribution of S W monsoon is critical for us”.

Rallis India is one of India’s leading agrochemicals companies, with a century old tradition of servicing rural markets and the most comprehensive portfolio of pesticides for Indian farmers. The Company is known for its deep understanding of Indian agriculture, sustained relationships with farmers, quality agrochemicals, branding and marketing expertise and its strong product portfolio. Rallis is also recognised for its manufacturing capabilities and ability to develop new processes and formulations supported by the capability to register new products. It has marketing alliances with several leading research based agrochemical companies.

During the financial year 2007-08, the Company had posted Profit after Tax of Rs. 125.19 Crores and Revenues of Rs. 760.74 Crores.
